I found a goose egg in an abandoned nest today as I was going for a walk....
When I picked it up it was cold. I brought It home anyway, Thinking it might still have a chance, and candled it. I have never hatched eggs, but all I saw was an area I could see through about the size of a cell phone, and the rest of it is just black. I have it under a heat lamp right now with my latest batch of baby chickens that are just a couple days old. Do you think this egg has a chance of survival?

I'm not sure but the way you describe it being mostly black, makes it sound like it is almost about to hatch. Are you sure the mama goose wasn't just away to eat, poo, or stretch her legs???

If this is a wild goose egg, you may have unwittingly committed a felony by taking the egg away. My father in law found a goose nest that had been scattered by predators. He found three unbroken eggs and took them intending to let one of his broody hens set them. On the way back to the car he was stopped by a game warden and got a good chewing out. The warden took the eggs and told him he was very lucky he didn't get taken to jail.
