Hi a baby wood pigeon has fell out of its nest today. We looked online and was told to feed it sugar water (Half a tablespoon with a pinch of salt per pint) We gave him some water and he had a good drink, he must only be a few weeks old.
What should we feed him and how? We tried him with a bit of hard boiled egg broke up into a mush feed through the corner of a plastic bag and we were told to place his beak in the egg and he would eat it.
He did not eat any.
After further reading we tried him with porridge oats again warm and mushy through the corner of the bag.
He would not feed.
Now he refuses water when we place his beak in the warm water.
We have put him in the garage with a tea towel over him in a box.
Hopefully he will last the night.
No injuries to the bird and his inside of beak is the correct colour, his poo is watery and brown.
How do we feed him if he won't take a feed, should we use a syringe?
We have left him with water and some fine seed overnight as well as some mushy egg.
Please reply and let me know how we feed a bird that won't feed?
Thanks Paul
