I have 6 Red Sex Link chickens and I found one dead this morning in the nesting box. She was out running around the coop yesterday and all seemed well. Wondering what happened to her. A couple of my hens have raw spots on their wings as well

I'm sorry to hear that.

It sounds like she died from egg-binding. I've found dead hens in nest boxes as well. As for the raw spots, that can be caused by bullying, a rooster breeding with them, or parasites.

I hope the others remain healthy!

I'm sorry for your loss. It's hard enough to lose a bird, but even worse when you don't know why.

How old was your bird, had she been laying regularly, and were her eggs all normal?

Have you change anything in the coop or run recently? New bedding, different food, new birds in the flock..?

Is it possible your bird could have got hold of something bad to eat?

Has there been a sudden change in the weather - heatwave or something?

I'm just trying to think of anything that may have affected her - if you can think of anything at all, however small or insignificant it may seem, it may help us try to work out what happened to your girl.

Well I have been finding a couple double yolkers so one or a couple hens are doing that. Nothing new with their flock or home and no they can't get ahold of anything bad to eat. It's been about. 28 degrees up here , not too hot.
