I live in downtown Phoenix and discovered a chicken in my back yard. I have no idea what to do. Every time I try to approach it runs. I'm an animal lover and only want to help this chicken. It's seems small. I would hate for something bad to happen to it. Any advise would be helpful. Thank you. Also, what could I leave out for it to eat?

Chocolate and avacado is bad for them, also uncooked rice or pasta or anything that may swell after eating. Almost any vegetable will work, dog or cat food, even a scrambled egg. As long as it is small enough to eat. I would try putting some out and then backing away a good distance. If you have a dog crate you may be able to bait and trap it. You may be able to rent traps/get advice from Animal Control if nothing else works. Good Luck.

you can put out a boiled eggs chopped up in a bowl, and wait till after dark to try and catch it....try and keep an eye on it and see where it goes for the night....after dark they cannot see very well so you might have a chance to catch it. then you might ask around, it probably belongs to one of your neighbors....~Charm
