Ok, so my chickens stopped laying, so we thought!!!! I came on here to find out why I wasn't getting any eggs. I read so many helpful stories but found I was doing everything right but still no eggs. My husband went out this morning to let our chickens out to roam like we do everyday. He noticed they repeated the same thing from the previous morning ( running to a spot of over growth on the edge of our yard). So he went to investigate & there were 16 eggs in a pile slightly under some over growth. I was thrilled they had not stopped laying but I am so confused as to why they are not laying in their coop!!!!!! Any ideas??? Is there anything I can do to get them to go back to laying in their coop?

Keep them locked up in the coop for a few days to a week or so, it will habituate then to laying in the coop nests.

Putting some fake eggs/gold balls in the nests can help too.

Free range birds sometimes need to be 'trained'(or re-trained) to lay in the coop nests, especially new layers. Leaving them locked in the coop for 2-3 days can help 'home' them to lay in the coop nests. They can be confined to coop 24/7 for a few days to a week, or confine them at least until mid to late afternoon. You help them create a new habit and they will usually stick with it.

Thats exactly what I am going to do starting tomorrow because I found 13 eggs in a different spot this morning. Thank you so much for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!
