Found Fox Den,how to hunt? Guys chime in!

I am a trapper. Trust me trapping them is not really an option much much easier to shoot it. Trapping is easy after about the first 25, seriously. Don't shoot it with your air gun either that won't work. If you must trap it use a live trap on the hole(s)

TY! I checked into the foot hold traps someone mentioned, illegal here. I'm a really good shot with pistols and decent with rifles but only at stationary objects. Not overly confident on taking aim at moving targets, on only 5 acres, with other homes around, even though the shot would be quite downward. (Not that I haven't had bullets whiz by my head while sitting in the yard). Idk what I'm gonna do.

Learning to trap on a specific fox sounds like about the hardest thing to do. Except for trying to catch a specific bobcat maybe.

Hazing will probably work.

Can old women chime in too?
Harrass it out of there....put stuff in the den tunnels, every day....not sure that will work but might be worth a try.
Meanwhile, make sure your coop and run is tight.

Sure! I'm an old lady myself(gonna be 50 this year). Well, I went to TSC and got a very expensive specialty trap. UGH! What it is, is a live-live trap. It's like a live trap but longer, with a secure area to put live bait, like one of my three roosters. Want to know what everyone thinks about this. I usually stay up late, till around midnight. What I would do is take the rooster home while I sleep and may rotate which rooster gets put in the trap each day so that no one bird is in that position every day. I know it could traumatize who ever gets trapped with the fox.

I am not thrilled using this method but even less thrilled with bullet travel should I miss in an open setting. Last year, when I found the den, with kits, she did move them right away. However, she continued to shop in my yard and I lost 3 birds to her after our GSD died. Scaring her away from the den is not enough. What say you all on this kind of trap?

Are you going to target fox and kits as well? Vixen only may not get your job done if going extermination route.

She has not dropped kits yet, it is a little early. I would rather kill her before kits are born but will kill all if it happens that way. She could drop as early as two weeks from now which is why I'm trying to figure this out before April/May birthing time.

I repel because even if resident pair removed, floaters will then be coming by. For me den proximity is not always a reliable indicator of losses. I have not figured out what is a good predictor of losses is other than lack of good repellent capacity.

Also true, males and roamers are possible. I am in the market for a new dog for that reason. Since this is the second year this fox has set up housekeeping in the same den on my property she is a particular PITA!!
