Well, I had to sign up because I keep asking golfs questions and finding them on this site.
have had various number of chickens, now we have 32layer hens of various breeds (polish, spitzles, sapphires, black stars, leghorns, dominiques and araconas) and we just had our first turkeys (white breasted) go all the way to harvesting (mom likes that better than butchering). And just added some poults, baby ducks and some Cornish hens (I call them jiggly puffs cause they are so dang cute and round).
I generally get to take care of the injured birds and have found so much helpful information as well as things I hadn’t thought to look up. I enjoy a community of bird lovers who love to love their birds.
I’m a crafty person, build, weld, craft, basically whatever needs to be done we find a solution to using my brain before the brawn. My daughter (a self declared “city girl”) has also been learning so much from our birds, as well as responsibly to them. Helps remind her of the places our food comes from and the quality of healthy raised birds. I generally refer to the flock as the cluckers because we all have a few broody girls who cluck at the wind.
