Well Topps is hanging in there! She has begun to drink water on her own, but I havnt gotten her to eat though. SHe has sugar and V&E in her water which I Hope will be enough to sustain her until I can get her to eat more. Ive been dropping baby food into her mouth, but thats only a small amount. Her wounds are starting to close up, they arent so gaping anymore, but she still has a long way to go.

My biggest worry right now is infection. Ive been smearing a ton of neosporin in her wounds, but its really tough to get to due to her mass amount of feathers. Im afraid to use anything else. SOmeone mentioned washing it.....what do I wash it with?

My friend tells me you should put scarlett oil on her wounds.

You should wash it with "Virosan flush" that is what my vet gave me to spray it on my guinea's HUGE open wound. It should be the one with no smell. This will help keep infection away and will clean and help heal the wound.
Believe me, even though I look young I have experience on this.

with animal bites (you did say puncture) there is often infection which topical antiseptics will not treat...at the first sign or suspicion of this ask your vet for meds...

I had a hen that got bitten by a raccoon and I didn't know it. Caught the raccoon in the coop while she was laying and didn't know he'd bitten her until a couple of months later when she started acting sick and I took her to the vet. Turns out, she'd gotten a puncture wound and it had closed and festered. She gave her oral antibiotics (baytril, I think) and an antibiotic ointment for the wound. She recovered nicely with the meds. I would think your hen needs systemic (?) antibiotics as well as a STRONG ointment. Is taking her to the vets a possibility? Or asking the vet to prescribe something? Hoping for the best for poor Topps!
