Today I found one of me free range hens who I though I would never see again. Turns out she had wandered off and started sitting on a nest of eggs. I candled the eggs and they look like they are mostly developed, but they are not in a very safe place for little chicks. How can I move the hen and the eggs without causing the hen to abandon them? I’ve raised chicks with a broody hen before, but I have never needed to move the nest before the chicks hatched.

thanks for any help :)

Make a nest in a dog cage, and bring eggs, and chicken. Close cage door, and observe. If she is sitting on eggs, then offer her water and food inside cage. If hen decides not to sit on eggs,,,,,,, your option is to incubate in an incubator, or you are out of luck. :hit
