Last Friday my husband went to pet my white chicky and noticed that she was down to skin and bones. We had noticed her acting funny the week prior but she was walking around with the girls and pecking like she always does in my backyard. We realized she's not eating the pellet food. Everyone else is. She would rather starve herself to death than eat that food. Now that we have realized the problem, we have been making her meals at least 3 times a day of anything else she will eat. Oats, fruit, yogurt, lettuce. And we are also buying crickets and mealworms for her almost every day. She has been eating all of this but she's still rail thin and has no strength. She also smells like death :( I gave her a bath in the kitchen sink last week to clean her doody booty and she even let me blow dry her and we sat on the couch warming up for an hour. Any opinions on why this has happened to her? I just don't know what brought it on. Is there anything else I can do for her?? Thanks!

have you always had pellet food? some of my birds didn't eat pellets when I switched to them from crumbles.

(chickens are not very smart.

Yeah they have always had pellet food and I have had no problem with them eating it. She is 4 years old and we've had her since she was 6 months. I think I am also gonna try to grind up some pellets in my magic bullet for her and see if she will like the crumbles of it better. Thanks for the tip.

What happened? My chicken is currently starving herself too. I'm making all kinds of foods. She's only interested in some. My chicken guy wants me to syringe feed her 5 times daily till she fastens up. I'm so worried. I think she had cocci... I'm doing all the same things u did. She's had two baths the past two weeks and was eating mealworms but I don't think I was feeding her enough of them. Because she now can no longer stand on her own...
