I finally found my password, so I thought I would post a picture or two of the new Muscovy girls we adopted today. They are 4 months old, the result of a classroom hatching project that was not well thought out for the future of the ducklings .

Hopefully the posting Gods will smile kindly on my attempt.

We had another lovely black Muscovy, Valentina. She passed away suddenly sometime during the night of June 28th. She had appeared to be fine, in fact, she was sitting on the edge of the pool that day and I was thinking what a beautiful duck she was. Then my husband went out to feed all the animals in the morning and he found her dead in the shed. No injuries, or anything obvious. Unfortunately, in his rush to try to keep me from seeing her body, he buried her so I could have a necropsy done on her. He meant well, but I was upset. Any how it it over and she is with all the rest of the flock members that have passed over the years. It was pretty upsetting though.

So, there was room for a few more girls. And these young ones needed a good home, so here they are. I am still working on names though. Hard to find good names that start with V and end in A, running out of ideas.

Verna is a lovely name.

Nice to "see" you

The links seem to have smooshed together in your post.

I am going to try segregating them out here and see what happens.

Sometimes they come up gray, but sometimes I get to see the photo's and they are such pretty ducks!

Sorry you lost her. I don't know what happened to little Drei, either. I did not know about necropsies when she died. And we had a human death in the family right around that time, too, so I wasn't on top of everything.

Thank you Amiga! I am not sure why that happened. I normally can post pics.

And thank you for your kind words about Valentina. It was such a sad thing. I hesitated about taking these girls because they are black and I was not sure if it would be more disturbing than comforting. But they really don't look that much like her and they needed a home too, so I am glad I did.

And Verna is on my list of names, along with Viana and Vreya. Getting to the point of silliness now, but of course they have to be named. I should have picked an easier letter.............

Going through one of my plant books,

Then there's Vandana Shiva
Vandana Shiva didn't she use to come here?
