So i went to check on my chickens there about 1 pound month and a half old chicks after reading about the nat problem with chickens well i found nats everywhere so i took them out and put them in a rabbit hutch (there coop will be done this weekend they have been in a ventilated box with a heat lamp and plenty of space to move)i then took insect killer and sprayed it everywhere and tomorrow morning im planning on taking there box outside and powerwashing it and putting new bedding in. Think this will work? Any tips would be helpfull thanks!

I'd be very careful with exposing such small birds to the 'insect killer'.
What did you use, what is that active ingredient?

Advanced search>Titles only> Gnats

Try that link. Lots of info out there.

It's probably not the best idea to expose them to the insecticide. Aside from it not being healthy for them, also remember as they will be eventually laying that what goes in will come out and I doubt you would want that in your eggs. You could sprinkle some diatomaceous earth in the box with some pine shavings to help with the gnats, flies and any other bugs with an exoskeleton. Other than that I've read that hanging those vanilla car scent trees around them will help although I don't have any experience wtih that. GL

I didn't put them back in the box I got the coop done and they are healthy and good thanks!
