Our 2 year old Andalusian Blue is now alone. You can see her on the chair in the pic. Her last buddy ( also in pic) was killed today from neighbors dogs. My son and I are devastated and am not going to raise anymore sweet hens to have neighbors dogs get in every year and kill them all. One hen is remaining and I don't want her to be alone but I do not want to buy more. She is used to being locked in her coop at night and let out in the morning to free range all day. I have never had a hen with so much personality she is active and can fly. She learned fast from neighbors dogs not to fly over the fence so she has stayed on our property the last 1.5 years even though she is capable of flying over. I have no need to clip her wings anymore and she survives because she can fly away when neighbors dogs come in and get the other hens. She is also the smartest chicken we have ever owned. If I let my dog out she knows my house door is open and always runs into my house knowing I will give her a treat while shooing her out. She is friendly and follows us around the property when outside... especially if you are eating. Shes such a pet to us but she will not be ok by herself. I am near Mills City in Oregon if there is anyone near me who has the space to ad her to their flock let me know. We would want her to be able to roam a bit she would not do well going to a pen full time we would just keep her here alone. Texting best 503-999-7827

I totally sympathize with you! As of last night, I am down to one chicken also.

Still thinking about what to do. I don't think I want more chickens either but I know they don't do well alone. Its a heartbreaking situation no matter what. I'm in Oregon as well. Have you had any luck rehoming her?

yes I am taking her to her new home today. A nice gal from WA here offered to take her but I am not well enough to drive that far. The court date for the dogs who killed my chickens again is in two weeks. even though I have a 6ft chain link fence around my entire 2 acres and the dogs came in under the gate they say because they were free range in day no law protects them. The dogs have done it twice and will stay in their home with just a fine.

And good luck in court! Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. Hope things go your way.
