Some times they are hard to tell young
I have 6 different types of Silvers and still get some wrong
Sometimes female will have small spurs and barded deck feathers even time will tell you soon
Yep, I don't know much about Silver pheasants. I only had a pair for 1 year and they were adult birds when I obtained them....it's been 30 years ago!
I originally posted it was a male but went in and edited it. That's one of the reasons I asked for a front on pic. Saw the spurs and the barring on the tail but I know some females are known to have small spurs, too!

I am going to have a home and run built for this baby in a side yard of mine ,it will be the only bird in that yard .Do you think if I clipped both wings I could have it come out of the run at times and roam that yard . Also I assume it will be very sad all alone. What kind of companion can I get for it if not another of its kind ?I know not to mingle it with chickens but maybe another bird and does anyone know where I would get another pheasant like this if I could ?

Flight is their only defense,so if you clip his wings he will not be able to fly up and hopefully out of danger.Check craigslist for a few hens for him as they are aggressive breeders.Even if you don't want to breed him,you can not stop natures course. At least 2 hens 3 if you can.Or you can have a pen with just males, different breeds if you want, but, you must put them in at the same time. You can not add any birds to this pen once it is established. He is young enough so get some the same age and they should get along fine.Absolutely no hen pheasants around them or there will be a blood bath.
