I woke this morning to a bird wandering in my yard . It turns out it is a silver pheasant . I trapped it quite easily and put her into my chicken run all alone until I learned more about the bird I found. She was identified as a silver female and seems quite small perhaps she is young . Until I find the home she came from or a mate for company I would like to keep her safe from predators and taken care of . Any helpful information about this birds care will be appreciated since I only first became aware of them this morning

Howdy :frow
A pic of the bird would be great, then It can be determined what species of pheasant you have for sure! They need high protein feed of 24% . Gamebird Starter is usually 24%. You do not want to raise pheasants with or near chickens. Chickens carry diseases that they can tolerate but will kill a pheasant. They also need more room than chickens and other poultry to do well in confinement. HTH

Neat! Would love to see a pic if possible. :D
Is it possible that the bird ran away from its owners and lives nearby? :hmm

I have never owned pheasants but here is a link to an article on how to feed and care for pheasants: https://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pet-advice/keeping-pheasants.html
The very first paragraph of this article is giving "deadly"/ inaccurate advice to anyone wanting to keep pheasants!
Edited to add: I stopped reading after the first paragraph, just went back and read the whole article. It is struned with inaccurate, harmful information. I would not follow anything the author says in this article.
