hey guys. I found a baby chick that my cat was stalking last night. Its really weak, can't walk, but it can chirp. I have been giving it corn meal with water and made it a little mash. Is eating that well. its crop is full before I put it back in its box, but I need help if I am going to raise it properly. Ideas anyone? oh and also has little bugs. how do I get rid of those? Please tell me anything that will help this little chick survive. I also need some name ideas. In Spanish preferably. or English, whatever. oh and should I get it a companion.

Go to your local Feed Store or your tractor supply and pick up a small bag of chick starter. Manna Pro makes a nice small bag of chick starter for one check and you'll be just fine . stop feeding it corn it's mostly fat and doesn't have the right nutrients.
Buy a small individual carton of Tokyo's triple zero yogurt vanilla flavor. It is very pure for chicks
Give the chick a half a teaspoon each day I
In a small saucer or cup. Take it out of the brooder after 10 minutes so it doesn't spoil under the warm light. it will help her have a healthy digestive system.
Best,
Karen

Thanks so much for all the tips guys. But I got some dad new. When I went to where I keep it and found all. Kinds of gnats all over it. It's dead. Oh and 3riverschick, I don't have a tractor supply around here and the nearest feed store which it half an hour drive away doesn't carry any chicken feed. Some feed store. It's also a hardware store though. I will try to use what you told me in the future. I have rescued a total of 7 birds or chicks from my huntress Emma the cat and she will never stop hunting till she dies, so I figure I will find more animals. My other cat Shadow doesn't really hunt. She's more mellow. LOL

Hey guys! I found 4 baby chicks from the same brood I think just abandoned. Waited for mama to come back but she never came back. I have a fairly large hutch that I put them in. They are all snuggled up in a corner and I have a food dish and water dish that I put in there, they are eating but not drinking. How do you recommend I take care of them? Will send you a picture in the morning, it's dark now. Thanks.
