So today I was out working in the yard and a lady stopped in my driveway, rolled down her window and said you have chickens right!? I said yes maam. (Thinking oh no! Not a complaint) However the woman said great! I have four chickens that need a place to go can you take them? She started out with 14 and something killed ten. She said she couldn’t bare to see them eaten too. So here I am four new chickens, don’t really know there backround or anything, and there’s already been a fight. Not just a little fight.... they were like girls pulling hair and wouldn’t let go. Idk this may have been a bad idea. I have separated them for now. It seem the boss of the four and one of my top ladies didn’t enjoy the meeting. I’ve recently got rid of 6 chickens and thought it probably wouldn’t hurt to add the four back in. Now I’m not so sure. And I also am not sure what this grey one is? Also Easter egger? I think I have three Easter Eggers and an Australorp. Am I right? Advice welcome.

Thanks :idunno

From what I can see, looks like you have an Easter Egger, Black Australorp, possible Wellsummer and I think a Blue Orpington! Good score!

Not sure if you ever let your original birds out of the run/coop, but if so, turn them out and lock the gate with the 4 new birds inside. Leave them that way until just before or even a little after dusk.

This allows the new girls to explore the area, figure out the set up without being attacked in every corner. If you can add some pallets leaned up against a wall, a roost in the run, and hidden feed bowl or two, where as a bird eating at one is out of sight of the other feed bowl, that will help too.

Then let the original girls in, the urge to roost will be nearly as strong as the urge to fight. If it is dark in the coop, there may be some squawks and thumps, but it should shortly settle down.

Yes they free range from sun up to sundown. I will try this currently they are sleeping out on roosts in the run. It’s pretty warm out and the rest are shut up in the coop. I will try this tomorrow
Thank you
