One of our Bresse hens went broody and stayed broody through two four-day vacations in the wire-bottomed broody breaker box. So I sequestered her in one of our breeder pens and let her sit on 11 eggs. A week in and five were clear, six developing.
Today I woke up to this:
There are four under her. Two eggs aren't showing pips and are silent but I'll give her a couple more days to come off the nest before throwing in the towel on them.
These are the first hen-hatched chicks on our place since a "lost to predators" hen led her little surprise clutch out of the pasture and into the coop four years ago. Every other batch has been via the NR360.
