Fowl Fest in Michigan- October 11 and 12

The show was fun for my kids. My 3 oldest showed. For the breed show you just stand back and watch the judge...they don't talk to the owners or anything.

There was a showmanship class too. We went to 2 shows last year besides the 4-H fair. Both were different, one was like the 4-H showmanship and the other was parts, diseases, and general poultry knowledge. So it is a great learning experience.

FYI: if you go sign up the showmanship bird in the breed class. We didn't at the first show and we didn't have a cage for her! So we found a spot in the sale coops and had to put not for sale on it...my daughter was worried to death that someone was gonna take her.

We've never done showbirds before. What is the required to enter in breed class? Is it just a matter of saying "I have a Salmon Favorelle" and that's where she gets entered?

Is there a dress code like 4-H or do the kids just wear whatever?

There is an entry form on the website. breed, type, color, etc. Fairly easy, if you have questions, John is great at walking you through it.

Dress is the same as 4-H.

MMm, Frankenmuth... *Tons* of my family members live there, and my grandparents had a store on Main Street there up until a couple years ago. It's an amusing place.

I *might* be up for going to Fowl Fest, but as I now live in GR it's a bit of a drive. It sounds like there are more fowls there than at the fair, though.

Do they normally have chickens for sale at these shows? Is a good place to buy chickens or is it better to just meet people to buy from in the future?

We live in Gaines Township, near Cutlerville. We want to move to Caledonia eventually.

Cascade is really nice.

Anny...there will be lots of breeders there! including Mr. Blehm, the gentleman we spoke of before.
