So I’m an idiot and I didn’t vaccinate my chickens. They all have fowl pox! patient zero is almost recovered. Her face was swollen and scabs covered her eyes and nose. I put her in intensive care and gave her cooked egg Yolks And put some Sulfadimethoxine in her water. her scabs are starting to fall off and I again stupidly started helping remove the loose ones. But one that was not that loose was covering her nostrils at the base of her beak.I thought I would be helping her breath better but I was horrified when it peeled off with her softened beak attached to it. She is now left with a huge missing piece of her beak. I’ve put triple antibioti on it but I’m worried that it won’t grow back because of the location. I know I’m stupid for doing this and I feel guilty. Does anybody know if it will grow back or will she have problems.i tried looking it up online but only found tip of the beak advice

I would clean it with disinfectant and apply some plain antibiotic ointment twice daily. It probably will grow back. Pox scabs are not to be disurbed because scabs can be infectious and can spread th virus. Dropped scabs later on can become powdered and inhaled by other chickens to spread the disease. Once chickens have had the pox virus, they will not get the same strain again. Some info below:
