Been trying terramycin and iodine solution maybe helping a little.I am keeping it alive because it seems to want to live .It is drinking water and eating, not a lot but some. This is going on the third week and don't know if should help it along by opening legions or not.His eyes are in there somewhere, had this happen before but not this extreme.Any hints on how to help this poor chicken?

Looks like fowl pox all right. There is no cure for it. It runs its course in a few weeks. The biggest risk is a chicken having the lesions in the throat and starving to death.

Iodine can help dry up the lesions, but don't disturb them as that's how it spreads to the other chickens. There is a vaccine you can get online, and it's very simple to administer it to the wing. You might consider this if this is a recurring thing. Mosquitoes spread this so mosquito controls is another avenue to pursue. I love Mosquito "dunks" that I just toss in my rain barrels that are non-toxic but kill the larvae.

Poor thing. I would use the Terramycin in the eyes at least twice daily. There is no treatment for pox, just has to run its course. Are there any yellow lesions or patches inside the beak or throat? Have any other birds gotten pox?

Thanks for the insight,I was treating all my young chicks with vaccine but it got to be to much. Now I try and do Thymol Fowl-Poxvet in the young ones water.I only keep a few chickens in a coop the rest are ferral but i do have about 70 birds living on my property, that I do feed and water. This is something I get out of the Phillippines where they don't have the luxury of refrigaration to keep vaccines.Again thanks for the help

Thanks for your insight and she seems to have nothing in her mouth. Most of the birds are ferral but do have coops for the ones that want it.I have about 70 birds that live on my property, that I feed and give water.Out of all the years I've been doing this I've had only the young chicks get the virus.I do use this for help in early ages of the chickens
