Hi all my amazing BYC people - I’m seeking some advice as I’m not sure if this warrants an exotic vet trip or not. Currently fowl pox is running through my senior silkie flock for the first time in around 5 years. Most of my girls have the typical fowl pox wart-like growths on the soft tissue of their face, but whatever is growing on Shroomies beak has got me confused. It appeared at the same time as the small lumps on the other girls but does not look anything like pox i have seen before. The coop is getting sprayed every couple of days to keep the mosquito levels down.
I am not sure if I should take her to an exotic vet (quite a drive away) because if it is fowl pox, it should clear on its own over the next few weeks. But being on the beak, I am concerned that it could cause issues for her or could be something else entirely. Shroomie seems completely unbothered by this and is doing all her chicken things normally.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this before when fowl pox was going through their flock?
