Fowl Pox? Or am I being a worry wart?

Good morning! The white spots on the comb look sort of like a fungus. If it's indeed fowl pox, it's very early in the process. The feet, I don't know if it's anything I'd be very worried about.

For the white spots, regardless of it being pox or fungus, some Blue-kote would treat both. Pox can only be semi-controlled until it runs its course. The Blue-kote may help. If you have no Blue-kote, paint on some Betadine each day. Both will dry out the lesions and help them heal more quickly.

The feet I would try soaking in Epsom salts and scrubbing them with a fingernail brush for a few days running and see if that helps.

Sweet, thank you! I doubt its fowl pox, but it could very well be fungus. How would I get Blue-kote? Does Tractor supply sell it? I can get some Betadine at walmart I belive, I don;t have that on me at the moment.

Yes, all feed stores carry Blue-kote or Blue Lotion. It could be in the horse meds or on the first aid shelf. It's a handy antiseptic/anti-fungal and has the added benefit of camouflaging fresh wounds so chickens won't peck at them. It should be in every chicken first aid kit.

If it's more convenient to visit a pharmacy or Walmart, Betadine will work as well.

I still can't see your pictures too well...
I don't live in an area where it gets cold so I don't know a thing about frostbite... Could you possibly be dealing with frostbite?

The foot pictures... Are you sure that's not scaly leg mite damage?

Gentian violet from a drug store is of the ingredients of BluKote that treats fungus. Monistat or Clotrimazole cream are also antifungal creams that can be used if it is favus or fungus.

It could be scaly leg mite damage, I've treated him several times for that and it hasn't gone away, as for the frost bite, no. Its definitely not frost bite, thats pretty fast moving and it looks more as if its rotting away. I;m sorry I couldn't get the best pictures, neither of them like to stay still, lol.

Ok thanks...I wasn't sure because I never seen frostbite in person.

What have you been using to treat the scaly leg mites?

So, I first soak my chickens feet in warm water and Epson salt and scrub them up thoroughly. And then I dry them off and lather on some Vaseline.

Around where I am there is really no stores or vets to actually get supplies or get help. The closest exotic pet/ farm animal vet is 2 hours away. Not only that but they cost lots, and lots of money. I try to get as much medicine as I can in my first aid kit for my chickens, but the majority of what I need and want in my first aid kit is not on shelves in the stores. I had to order my fish zole, I paid extra for 2 day shipping and in reality it didn't come for 4 days.
If you have like, a list of what I should have in my first aid kit, please, send me those ideas that way I can look in the stores and try to get my first aid kit set up for the spring.

I also have my silkie, Timmy who is still recovering from Canker, who has this weird bumps eating away at his beak, if you'd like to see that, I can post some pictures of it. I really need to find out what in the world is doing this to his beak.

Scaly leg mites need vaseline almost daily for a while...think a week or two...to smother them.
Then it takes more weeks for the legs to show improvement.
