Long story short I’m not sure if this is fowl pox or peck marks. She’s the lowest chicken in the flock but I’ve never noticed them getting at her so I’m sort of afraid it’s pox. We have a ton of mosquitos here in the south after days of rain.

No but one of our hens was looking awful the past week and I couldn’t figure out what it was. Her comb was floppy and blue on the tips but eggs stayed the same, no mites/lice and I couldn’t figure it out. She never had the external pox. Today her comb started looking a bit better. None of the others have marks. Yet...😕

If it's pox it would have started a while back really.. long enough for the lesions to appear at least.. if you have mosquitoes.. they were there even before the recent rain, just maybe in smaller numbers.

I agree it does NOT look like typical peck marks.

If it is fowl pox, then maybe a very mild case of it or strong immune systems in the birds perhaps.

Ether way.. there is nothing to be afraid of.. viruses happen, immune systems fight them. Be on the look out for any increased symptoms that may indicate something else.. but otherwise support through good nutrition not diminished by excess treats and good husbandry.. dry bedding, good ventilation in coop, shade, fresh water.. I mean all the thing it LOOKS like you already are providing as she is lovely! :)

Well thank you for the encouragement. I have several small children so we know all about viruses and sharing them haha I’ll be relieved if they make it past unscathed and hopefully immune. I’ve never seen peck marks so I just wasn’t sure. She’s my favorite. I’m not supposed to have favorites but.... Her name is Florence Nightingale and we lovingly call her Flo. I’ve been limiting treats to a few pumpkin seeds sprinkled with garlic powder and providing ACV water intermittently. I’ve also been cleaning their coop daily so hopefully this will all help them get through it without too much discomfort. I’ll update if I see more changes in order to help others.
