Help needed…new chicken owner here! Inserting photos for reference.

On October 4 I photographed some black dots on my chickens comb. On October 16 I noticed her earlobe had been opened/bleeding. It seemed to scab over but tonight it was reopened and bleeding again.

I’m unsure if this is a pecking issue or potentially could have been cussed by Fowlpox after seeing some other threads here.

All help appreciated. Not sure what to do.

On the comb, I see Scab, likely from pecking.

Can you get someone to hold her and take a few good clear well-lit photos of the ear?

I don't see Fowl Pox at the ear either. Possibly injury. I'd apply a small amount of triple antibiotic ointment on the ear but do take note if there's any pus, oozing or odor which may indicate infection or canker.

I’ll try to get a better photo tomorrow first thing. Thank you for your reply! If it is a pecking issue, how should I try to resolve this?

Thank you for the help! If I pick this off will it cause pain to her? And will it just bleed then attract more pecking?
You have picking and pecking going on in your flock. Pinless peepers will put a stop to it. You will need the pliers to put them on or take them off. Here's a link:

He's not saying to pick the scab off, he's saying if you have picking and pecking going on in your flock, to use Pinless Peepers.

Your hen has a Gash or Injury to her neck. It looks to be healing, but it would be a good idea to look at it more closely and put some ointment on it. Monitor it.
At this point, I don't think picking off the scab would be beneficial. It's possible since it's reopening now and again, the other hens may be picking at it. Observe to see if that's happening.

For a gash like that, is there a place where she could have caught her neck in fencing, cut it on wire or a staple/nail or perhaps even a predator tried to get her.
