So my dad gave me an old hen of his. I put her in with my rooster and 16 young chickens (15weeks old). She managed fine with the girls, but the rooster chased her relentlessly. After her first night in the coop, I let them all out in the morning to free range. She stayed back in the coop, not wanting to join the others. Then she didn’t come back to the coop and was missing for 2 days. She came back Wednesday, and I didn’t notice anything wrong. Wednesday afternoon was a different story. The pictures I’ve attached show how my chicken looked Wednesday afternoon. I wish I had a picture of her from Sunday, she had a beautiful bright red comb and waddles? Wattles? Whatever those things are... it just seemed so abrupt to go from looking damn near perfect to this! I took her to the vet and he suspects fowl pox or some aggression from the other chickens or rooster. She is on an eye ointment twice a day and an injectable antibiotic one a day for 14 days. Has anyone else had a chicken with fowl pox that had it appear so suddenly and with such damage?

No fowl pox, just a severely beaten up hen, unfortunately. I would separate the pullet in a wire dog crate with food and water until she is feeling better, and then separate the rooster when she is added back, gradually as you spend time with them. Supervise visits with the others. She may have to be in the dog crate until they are all more familiar. If my rooster was that rough, he would not be going back in the flock.
