Yes they do have the growths in their wind pipe. I have been using twisters to pull out the growths then putting Blue Kote on the spots. Yes I have been using antibiotics nothing is working so I am going to try to get chicks out of them.

I have a question I used safegeard the horse wormer for my laying chickens. I mixed the wormer in their chicken feed. Do I wait 10 days to kill the cycle or is it strong enough that it kills every thing and I don't have to worry about that? Thanks so very much.

I have always read by worm experts to give Safeguard horse paste straight by mouth in a pea sized amount, then repeat in 10 days to kill the worm larvae. I wouldn't recommend putting it in their food since you don't know how much they are getting. Safeguard Liquid goat wormer costs a little more, and the dosage of that is easy--1/2 ml or cc for most chickens. The paste is a little more guess work.

Safeguard liquid is actually cheaper per dose than the Safeguard or Panacur paste

• 125 ml bottle has 125 1ml doses for about $20
• 25 gram tube of paste has 25 1ml doses for about $10

Many people don't know this, but 1ml of paste weighs one gram, so 1ml of the paste is *exactly* the same as 1ml of the liquid, both have 100mg of fenbendazole. If you normally give .5ml of the liquid you would give .5ml of the paste, they are the same.

From left to right:
Small = 10mg ( .1cc) = enough for a 200 gram (7 ounce) bird at 50mg/kg
Medium = 25mg (.25cc) = enough for a 500 gram (17 ounce) bird at 50mg/kg
Large = 50mg ( .5cc) = enough for a 1000 gram (35 ounce) bird at 50mg/kg
50 mg/kg is what my vets recommended.

Is Gail D. a vet or something? Who do you believe and not believe? I didn't think they were carriers and someone told me they were so trying to find out more now.

I think that intervention is not necessary. They will get better on their own in most cases. No medicine or treatment necessary. You can keep an eye on them in case one gets sicker. We continue to eat the eggs. No Ill effects that I know of from that. If you give them some type of medicine or antibiotic, however I would not eat eggs. I’m surprised to read here that people are trying to treat their chickens for something that I don’t think it’s a super serious disease. Except for wet pox I know that can be worse.
