I'd like to begin with saying thank you to everyone who contributes to this site. This spring (2012) my fiance and I were newbies to owning and caring for chickens and really appreciate how helpful you all are. This site is such a huge help.
Recently we noticed a spot on our rooster's comb. I've attached a picture. This picture is one side of it. The other side looks more like spotty, black scabs. He doesn't seem to be in any sort of pain or discomfort, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better. We've done a bit of research and it is sort of looking like fowl pox. Can anyone confirm that? And any advice on what we should be doing? We got iodine this evening and plan to apply that. We also bought a powdered vitamin supplement at our local supply store to add to the water. Thanks in advance for your help!
