I haven't found a clear answer to this one. Our baby chickens (b. June 17, 2023) appear to have fowlpox. Older chickens have either had it before or have been vaccinated.
Only three of the 18 babies have lesions at this point, but since everyone is together, it is safe to assume everyone is exposed. Would it be a problem or even beneficial to go ahead and vaccinate against fowlpox? I'm leaning toward vaccinating in the hopes that those that have not developed symptoms could be prevented from having a strong case of the disease, or even bypass symptoms at all.
Has anyone chosen to give the fowlpox vaccine after exposure? Did it help the ones that showed no symptoms? Will it cause a problem?
Thank you!!
