Welcome to byc. Predators come in all shapes and sizes. Electric fencing won't protect birds from predators flying in or jumping down from roofs or tree branches. You'll find that everything loves chicken and not in a good way. If you make it very difficult for predators to get to your chickens - they will move on to someplace that is easier.

i would go with the dogs it does not involve any use of electricity or if you teach him/her right no harm done to chickens
