FOX ATTACK!!! HELP

Hello I’m in urgent need of help for my quail who was attacked by a fox just now, the fox attacked all of my quail just leaving two, one of the two is an absolute rebel anyway, and survived with no injuries, but one has suffered a gash from her leg to wing, she’s hiding it very well and I’m unable to get a good picture, thankfully the fox didn’t kill any chickens thanks to my rooster who held the fox off in time for me to get out.


Anyway, back to the quail I’ve just got them inside and they seem to just be preening but they do look quite shaken up so I’m just letting them relax, any further advice?

Disinfecting the wound with saline or chlorhexidene, then applying plain antibiotic ointment or similar cream twice a day would be what I would do. Don’t let the others near the wounded quail until it heals. I would try to reinforce the fencing with 1/2 hardware cloth wire so nothing can reach through the fence. Let us know how the quail gets along.

I would keep her in a crate which would make it easier. Good luck.
