Fox attack - limp neck

Pics
I was wondering if it is her pelvic bone. You may want to use a large needless syringe to irrigate her vent after she poops. More to keep the cut area clean. You could even spray it with vetricyn. I was thinking of way to keep her lined up and in place and the only thing I can think of is small butterfly bandages. They sometimes use them on people when stiches aren't really needed but the wound needs to stay closed. There should be enough skin around her vent area to place one or two and keep everything together. Part of what I see in the video does look like it goes inside... I'd push it back in and stick it closed. You could give her stiches but that sounds horribly painful.

Steri strips might work, I would use skin glue if I could get it. used in operating rooms and for same day surgeries to close wounds and you don't have to remove them. Have heard of people using super glue on animals. But you will have to do what's best for you and Olga.

My worry with the skin glue would be sealing something in. If there was a small pocket on the inside that you can't see with it that close to her vent she couls get sone nasty stuff in there. But Urusline Chick is right, you have to do what works for you and Olga.
I also wanted to mention you could offer the baby bird mix on a spoon. I've tubed a bird and was very nervous. I always thought she could sense that... so I mixed the food a little thicker so it wouldn't just run off the spoon. She ate it no problem.

Good point, maybe leave a drain in??

ETA ; @Hokum Coco has successfully used super glue to close a wound on his pigeon. Maybe he has some thoughts.[besides not glueing your fingers together lol]

If it were a deep puncture I'd say you could pack it. Then it would heal from the inside out. With a cut or tear though I think it's going to try and heal outside in...
Again all I picture is poo next to an open wound. Eeewwww

Wasn't trying to high jack thread, just know there are certain things that must be done when placing an oral feeding tube in a human and didn't want to see Olga injured any more than she was, as well as knowing my self. I can easily get either a feeding tube or red rubber cath to keep in my kit at home. this has just been so informative. Thanks to everyone who jumped in and helped loona and Olga. Glad Olga seems a little better today, sounds like it may take some time, she is lucky to have loona and everyone here who care.

Thank you. Yes, we are all so fortunate to have one another. I have def learned about my chickens just by viewing some threads on here.
Yesterday I was glad to see her drinking out of the cup, nibbling bread. Today she drank some Poultry-Cell water, Electrolyte water, Reg water, tbsp of yogurt, and with the little plastic Advil cup, she easily drank two capfuls which equal 12.5 mls per cap.

She pooped twice today, runny, but regular chicken poop colors. Her vent is really concerning. Her neck is blue where she was bitten, it's still floppy, but she can hold it steady if I have her in my arms (I wrap her in a towel) while holding the cup/bowl/cap/spoon. She occasionally shakes her head like a spasm so it worries me, but for the most part she's still. She just lays on her side and doesn't tempt to move and sleeps alot. Her right leg is stronger than her left. But we are trying. We tell her we love her and try to keep her comfortable.

I appreciate everyone's help! It is wonderful! Thank you to all!

It may take a while, but it sounds like she is doing better today, I am not surprised she wants to sleep, she needs that to heal. you have done good work, sounds like. Congrats

Would have to clean the site well before closing it up, that might help with the poo around an open wound problem. I have forgotten, sorry, is Olga getting any antibiotics?

At this point, no she is not. I've been contemplating it. Just not sure. : \

I cleaned her vent area very well today with the Chlorhexidine solution. Trimmed a few feathers away to make it easier to clean. Applied some hydrocortisone cream (there is no 'caine' type analgesic in it, just pure HC cream) and then Neosporin around the edges and around this 'bone-like' thing sticking out. It def bothers her.

What about closing it up? Thank you!
