Fox attack. Quick, painless ways to put down a hen? UPDATE

I'm. Zoey to hear but at least she's livin and kicking. Antiseptic of some sort on wounds and a pen shot is what I rexomend. I had my first and I'll be darn worst hit about 3 weeks ago. Neihbors dogs got 8 of my birds and needless to say I got the shotgun ready if I ever run Into them. Once again sorry to hear and good luck I'm sure if she's lasted this long with the right measures shell pull through

Check her from head to toe to find out where the bad smell is coming from.
You will need antibiotic on any wounds that don't smell right. With antibiotic it is amazing what they can heal from. Neosporin (without the added pain relief ingredient) for wounds not deep. Puncture wounds and large wounds may need injectible or oral antibiotics. Important to act quickly when antibiotic is needed.

If she is stressed, a drop or two of Rescue Remedy in her water may help. Also, a bit of electrolytes can be helpfuland indeed in some cases crucial when a bird has been shocked by a trauma.

1 baby aspirin crushed per cup of drinking water for pain, but don;t use when a bird is actively bleeding or if internal bleeding is suspected. Fresh batch at least daily.

Pheonix has some poop that keeps stickin to her feathers, that's where the smell is comin from. They both seem to be doin pretty good, they're eating and drinking, they sit by tthe door wanting outside, and Hopi layed an egg. The only thing I'm worried about at the moment is that Hopi has a short bite mark on her back that is scabed up and that seems to be doin fine. But spreading away from that are these hard green spots where there aren't any injuries that I can see.
