My favorite hen, Juliette, was attacked by a fox a couple days ago. The fox dropped her twice and finally left scared by my husband.

Juliette lost a few feathers, had some wounds and what looked like a broken wing. Her wounds are healing nicely. I am keeping her in a dog crate so she can feel secure and recover in peace. She is eating and drinking well, particularly treats :)

It turns out her wing is not broken but it does hang down. I am wondering if I should wrap an ace bandage around her so it heals in place, or do you think with time she will be able to close it right again and I should let well enough alone?

Juliette in happier days

I am so grateful that the fox dropped her and that she seems to be recovering well. She is very talkative and appears happy and not in pain, thankfully.

What did you end up doing to Juliette? I have the same problem right now with my Sugar. Is she able to fly now? Mine all love to fly up to the roosts. Hope to hear from you! Thank you !

Since Juliette's wing was not broken I was advised by the local food mill to let well enough alone. I kept her in the dog crate in the kitchen for about two weeks. Her wing became stronger little by little. By now she is back to her old self and gets up on the roost with no problem.
Best of luck with your patient. If her wing is not broken she will get back to normal but you have to keep up safe in the mean time.
