Fox attack

One of my chickens was just attacked by a fox. We were able to save her. She has a large wound by her tail and a few other puncture wounds. I have cleaned the wounds with soapy water and applied antibiotic ointment. I have her away from other chickens. What else can I do?

Good job so far. You've cleaned the wounds and put the antibiotic ointment on them to deter bacteria. But the puncture wounds now need an oral antibiotic to do the same inside her body as the teeth of the predator were germy and bacteria is now inside those wounds.

If you have any sort of prescription antibiotic on hand, getting her started on it immediately can save her life. Ask around among friends and relatives if you don't have any.

The dose is 250mg per day for ten days.

As long as she hasn't been crushed in the foxes jaw she should recover.
Keeping infection at bay is what's important now.
Daily cleaning and I would find a Chlorhexedine spray as a disinfectant, will help.
I have in the past given them the option of being outside with the other chickens. Ime badly injured and the sick are quite happy to have a bit of peace and quiet for a couple of days, but will start to stress if they can't see their tribe.
An hour or two a day supervised can work for a while.

Just found amoxicillin in my medicines. We got a dose down her. Thank you so much!
