I had a very bad day on Wednesday!! I had 8 laying hens 1 Rooster and 5 Quail. I lost 3 young hens, my rooster and all 5 of my quail taken by FOXES!!!!! Chooks were all inside their shed roof wired in and weldmesh fences. Feathers everywhere my remaining 5 hens in shock. I had bred everyone of them. Sick to my stomach. Even had a Fox light going.

Thank you for your messages. I have 4 new Jumbo Quail all females- love their eggs. I have moved them into a new setup and off the ground. My 3 silkie hens are laying everyday and are locked into their cottage at night. Will attempt to attach a photo.

Since the fox attack I have set up lots of solar lights on a continuous length and lock my goats and sheep in the shed and yard which is alongside my poultry yards every night. I also lock all my chooks away in a fox proof area every night. No problems so far.

Glad to hear that. It doesn't seem that lights are as big of a deterrent as people hope for but a fox proof coop/run etc is worth its weight in gold.
