Fox attacks

A few months ago we had a fox attack at two in the afternoon
DO NOT BE FOOLED foxes can and do come out during the day. I have 16 chickens we had a small hen her name was Dorathy. We had a fox chew the wire off our cage, No Joke. He took Alex, Dorathy and Silvia.

Sorry to hear about the loss of Alex, Dorathy & Silvia.

Unfortunately it’s not uncommon for them to be out in the day and make these very determined efforts to take birds.
Please do watch out for it returning to take more.

Yes I have lost more than 6 birds to daytime attacks, we have a hen ivy she was scratchicng near the garage when a fox grabbed her and my dogs saved her thank goodness she is one of my favourite hens

So sorry for your losses. I HATE fox!
Yes, foxes can attack anytime day or night. I personally have seen most fox attacks between daybreak and noon (on my neighbor's chickens not mine). They do not have to be rabid or diseased to be seen during the day like some people will say.

We have actually had most of our attacks at lunchtime. Have found plenty of fox dropping in my chicken yard. I still get so worried for my chickens

I still get so worried for my chickens

I have a fort knox secured run with hardware cloth for the fencing, brought out as an anti-dig apron almost 2 feet, deer fence for the netting on top, AND surrounded by an electric fence, and I STILL worry about my chickens.

We used to have an electric gence until a gum tree branch fell on it

If you can, get that fence up and running. It will be your best line of defense.

Yeah it’s just about clearing it up plus there are snakes and stuff amongst all the rubble, we have had one baby chick taken by a snake and that was when it tried to peck the snake the snake must see it as easy meal
