"Yeah, this is so nice and peaceful. I almost forgot what it was like in the wilderness." Ruby said and sighed happily.

"So Ruby what's your story? Where do you come from? You are like Damon, not naturally accruing around these parts. How did an Arctic fox come to be at a fox sanctuary? If you didn't want to talk about it. Just tell me to mind my manners. Then I will apologize, never to bring it up again." Amari queried.

"Well, I used to be in the arctic, but I was taking for breeding and put in a zoo, and after a few litters of pups all grown and gone, I wanted to go for myself. I escaped but I was not used to hunting by then, I was in the city. Then I saw this little fox pup, and I followed it. I was starving and I was sick and not in my right mind, I was going to hunt the pup down and eat it, I was so starving I was thinking anything was edible." She said. "But right when I was going to kill the pup, who was sleeping in a ditch, Jack, who I didn't know at first, saved the pup and me." She told Amari.

"Well, I used to be in the arctic, but I was taking for breeding and put in a zoo, and after a few litters of pups all grown and gone, I wanted to go for myself. I escaped but I was not used to hunting by then, I was in the city. Then I saw this little fox pup, and I followed it. I was starving and I was sick and not in my right mind, I was going to hunt the pup down and eat it, I was so starving I was thinking anything was edible." She said. "But right when I was going to kill the pup, who was sleeping in a ditch, Jack, who I didn't know at first, saved the pup and me." She told Amari.

Amari was quite for a time, then she said," To be taken from all you know and had ever known. Must have been terrible. But then to be treated as such for the population of zoo's. That enrages me more. I'm so sorry you had to endure that hardship Ruby. That's why Jack is a saint for saving you. The world owes him for the work he does." Amari said reverently.

Damon had came over to listen to her story. His heart went out to her. But then for some reason, he started sharing his story. "When I was a pup, the breeders pried me for my mother's teat, then force fed me with bottles in order to make me more dependent upon human, keep me more docile and more tame for them to handle. Then a very rich man bought me. He was cruel and egotistical. He had to show me off to all his friends. Then beat me if I misbehaved. Even starving me and depriving me of water on hot days. So I started breaking the welds on my wire cage. When I got the hole big enough, I slipped out and never looked back. That's when I met Amari and she taught me how to be real fox." Damon explained.

"And,  though I had been used as entertainment by hundreds of humans all my life, I saw Jack, or anyone that would help me, and I just saw hope. I didn't have a second thought about letting Jack pick me up and take me away. I guess I'm just not one to hold a grudge against the human race." Ruby said. "That's terrible!" Ruby said sadly. "But you're here now, with another rich man, but he's kind." She said and chuckled a little, she never once thought that would become rich.

"Jack buying that house was a true blessed event!" Amari said happily.

"Agreed." She said happily. She then noticed her mouth was dirt dry. "I'm going to take the pups for a a second to get a drink." She said politely and got up.

"Okay Ruby, I'll see you when you get back." Amari said. She looked at Damon and frowned at him. He looked at Amari puzzled. Then Amari glared at him. Then he realized what it was about."Oh!" He whispered shyly. Louder he said, "Ruby, please allow me to escort you to the stream. The wolves might be around." Damon looked at Amari and she smiled and nodded proudly.

"Okay Ruby, I'll see you when you get back." Amari said. She looked at Damon and frowned at him. He looked at Amari puzzled. Then Amari glared at him. "Oh!" He whispered shyly. Louder he said, "Ruby, please allow me to escort you to the stream. The wolves might be around." Damon looked at Amari and she smiled and nodded proudly.

"Oh, okay! I'd be glad to have someone by my side!" She said nicely.

Walking up to Rudy and her pups, he made a show of watching the woods for danger. Then he glanced at her shyly. "This stream is quite refreshing. The water is nice and clean. No pollutants." Damon declared.

Amari laughed silently to herself. He was so awkward sometimes. But he was still learning. She closed her eyes to enjoy the sun some more.
