Fox spotted

I believe that 'closed season' means when it's NOT legal to trap for fur. That's 'open season'. So a landowner can kill animals attacking his animals, on his land, anytime.
For total clarity, call your DNR.
Notice that ANY relocation is illegal in Va.

We wouldn't relocate. I don't believe in making it someone else's problem. ;)
I will call the Conservation department to clarify, but my neighbor said we are free to kill them if they attack our pets or livestock.

Ah now this is where I'm at home years of experience with foxes
Here's some tips
  1. A fox has all night to start fiddling with the coop and a fox will.aways find a way to mess with u how to solve it put an extra layer of wire around the coop
  2. Get a fox trap if the fox trap works get a proffeprofes to take care of the fox usallus a vet
  3. This is only if u have large amounts of poultry get geese or swans they are VERY protect I've of the coop and will scare away a fox
  4. And this is one tip only to be used in the extrem case and u'll need to check with the local athoritys first and is a crule way to take care of fox and it's sitting up and shoot the fox
  5. These are a few simple tips and it's up to u which u do
Thanks for the tips. We have chicken wire over the hardware cloth, just as a precaution, as the prefab coop we are starting with wasn't super secure.
I don't want to put traps out, as we would be more likely to catch our cats than the fox. Or our neighbors cats. Lol
My husband has no problem killing the fox, as long as it is legal (which I am checking on today). I think that would be the permanent solution. We haven't seen it today, and I am hoping it found out it couldn't get in and gave up, but I am being fairly naive, I realize.

Very seldom foxes bother cats.

Regardless if your sitting outside a fox still will get or make an attempt right in front of your face,I know from experience.

I recently am having the fox issue and this is what I do.
We spray wolf urine all around the perimeter, escpecially where the attacks are most frequently,I usually go into the woods a little and spray around, must be within 10-12 feet apart and applied after every rain and every ten days.I just started this and it even has My dogs intimidated,so I can only imagine what a fox thinks of it.

I also walk the perimeter of where attacks happen early in the mornings and late in the afternoon and occasionally try to walk it a during the day,but not everyone has a schedule to do so,but it’s summer and I have time.I have been letting the chickens free range and doing all this haven’t had one get caught,of course it’s only been four or three days.

On top of that I have two dogs, that means three different scents and three different canines that the fox has to compete with, foxes won’t fight a dog escpecially if they can get away, they cannot afford to get injured, best bet is to get a dog.

Where do you get the wolf urine?

We don't want to get a dog at this point. Both neighbors on either side of us have dogs that bark nonstop, and one is frequently in our yard.

Order it online,it was twenty bucks and came in a decent sized bottle.

Even though it’s in a decent bottle,I try rationalizing only putting very little in a spray bottle and spray some in a few spots, try covering your entire perimeter and yard spraying only maybe seven spots, meaning get in seven different areas of your yard.

Lol just while I was out side yesterday I saw a fox tail slide underneath the bushes and when I went to look for eggs I could clearly see that they where very very stressed out
So I'm probably going to have to get ride of the fox forever as a lot of my hens currently have young and are running about so when I went to get the shot gun (I was only going to shoot the gun to try and scare it first so don't worried) I realized I can touch the fox as my permit was up 10days ago so I'll definitely try the wolf stuff until my permit works
Hope the foxes that are desturdist use get stopped best wishes 336white Phoenix

Thank you! I will try this
