Fox The Predator - Neighbor The Pest

While I don't condone feeding wildlife it looks like you are also, when you live in a neighborhood you have no control over what others do , so you have to work around things, the best you can do is put up a fence and hot wire in your free range area and lock them up in a secure coop at night..

I have critters here but I have no neighbors , I rely on my dogs to keep all trespassing critters away ..
Sorry for your loss

Thanks! :) Yeah, the fox gets them in the middle of the day, so over the last few months we have just kept them in the coop, and the small coop run. Unfortunately, this has led to poorer living conditions of course for our 8 chickens. We JUST bought and built up a bigger run around the coop for them. hopefully it will at least deter the fox!

Good grief is right! Sorry for your losses. We took over this property from an unlicensed wildlife rehabber. If she only knew....
Anyway, we've had fox problems the last 3 years. Seen them all hours of daytime. Did exactly as dthomascg did with a rabbit decoy. That fox comes trotting 5 mins later 6 ft in front of my husband. He couldn't get a shot off with a long range rifle. Grrrr! Wrong tool for the job. He said if only he had his 12 ga shotgun.

We have 2 dogs now & 0 losses so far. No sign of a fox yet. Knock on wood! Hoping it stays that way. These are just mutts too. Some dogs are more eager to please than others & can be trained easily. My larger dog (under 40 lbs) chases off everything! From hawks to coyotes. The smaller one (20 lbs) chased off a fox. If you want something silent, deadly & accurate, a crossbow is the way to go. You can get proficient rather quickly with one. Super fun to use too! She'll never know....

WE have a pond with ducks and the pond seems to call the fox. WE lost 1 chicken to hawk, a baby to ravens and two to a fox. the fox keeps coming back but hasnt killled any chicks or ducks in 3 months. The fox seems to live part time in our pile of dead pine trees. I poured amonia in the pile but its huge. The dog cant get to the bottom of it. do foxes have dens in the summer? Any fox repellant that works? Suggestions?
