This beautiful bird got attacked by a fox last night. I heard the birds clucking so I ran out and saw it about to finish her off. So I throw a chair at the fox and chased it with a billet hook into the field.

I set the fox trap in the same place where it made the attempted kill. It was all camouflaged with cat food as bait. Nothing was caught.

Any ideas on how to catch it in the fox trap. Many thanks.

So sorry! You will have to lock up your birds until that fox is gone. How about electric poultry fencing to protect them? It is very effective for land predators. See premier1supplies.com. Trapping foxes is hard; try making a tunnel around the live trap, with the only way in at the door, and chicken parts as bait. Alert the neighbors, and consider trying to shoot when it returns, if possible. Mary

You need to change the bait...

There's plenty of food this time of year for foxes, the likelyhood they will eat cat food is slim. Best thing to try is meat, maybe chicken lol.

I'm serious though get some meat in the trap and you will have your fox

We haven't had any chickens die recently. Would ham be an option.
