FOX

Try to outsmart him by predator proofing your coop and run. I didn't say it is an easy task. Remember that the fox is interested in your chickens not out of malice, but need to eat. I am not suggesting you feed him Purina Fox Chow ON THE OUTSKIRTS of your premises, Secure it so he knows there is no lunch here.

WISHING YOU BEST...

Yes, I'd like to see them re homed as we are inside town and they could pose a problem not only to my chickens but children as in our area they are known to carry rabies.

Thanks, I have my coop and immediate yards secure, but when I let them out within my 4 acres that have chain link is when they are vunerable and I am thinking of putting a solar electric fence up top to try to keep the foxes from jumping over.

The odds are slim you'll trap him in a live (box) trap unless you have big one.....

If you do just make it look like a way into the coop and run, block it off so it's a hole into the run, fox goes in door shuts.

Fox are fairly easy to catch in a leg hold trap anything 1 1/2 or bigger will work fine. Put a few traps around the chicken run with some bait( Google dirt hole set, or use a hay bale) they are attracted to the fresh hay, you'll catch it.

Relocation is actually illegal in most places, anyway you will need a catch pole to take it out of the trap alive.

So sorry your chickens got attacked. :( Last night one of my chickens were attacked. She was also attacked by a fox, but we saved her just in time. If you see a fox out there attacking your chickens, get something shiny (like keys) dangle them in the air and scream. This is how we got rid of our fox
