I would definitely call a local wildlife rehabilitator before you proceed. There are reasons for the laws that govern & protect our nation's wildlife, and I would be very careful about breaking them.
If you find the eggs in the wild, they are wild mallards. How can you be sure they are part domestic?
I admire the sentiment, but I HIGHLY recommend calling the Audobon before you proceed.

OMG just had a fox enter my yard and take one of my bibbed call ducks. I tried to track him but no luck, he took and ran as fast a lightning. ANY suggestions on how to keep the FOXES from getting my ducks besides locking them up for now on?
