Just thought I'd throw this out there - how about an electric poultry fence? We practically live in a forest where there's tons of predators - I've seen the fox strolling through at dusk, as well as a family of raccoons, and a mink that lives in the pond. My husband shot the mink but could never get a good aim at the fox. We decided on the electric poultry netting fence - it is easy to move around so our chickens can forage in different areas during the daytime, we just move the stakes to go around them. Roughly $340 for the equipment, 20 minutes to set up, worth every penny!
