FPC Annual Winter Poultry Show - February 12, 2011

I do have the BYC banner and will be setting a table/area for BYC and the NCPoultry2(yahoo) folks. Right now it looks like I will set it up outside just above the show hall in the open shelter/picnic area. If it is colder then planned I will simply set up inside the show hall that morning, but it will be a little more cramped.

The table will have a sign in sheet and name tags. The larger tag will be for your name. A smaller tag will have a BYC emblem on it and room for your BYC ID. You would this under the tag that has your actually name. There will also be small ones for the NCP2 folks. If you are on both groups then you have 1 tag with your name and then 1 smaller for each group with the ID for each of those groups. Make sense?

I have 80+ BYC bumper stickers for $0.25 each. That is what I paid for them. I am doing these on the honor system. If you take a Sticker please put $0.25 in the can/box. I did have to pay $8 s&h in addition so if someone would like to add an extra few cents to help out that would be welcomed but not a must.

If the BYC area is outside I will be there quite a bit. I can't stay inside for more then 20-30 minutes at a time, the dander gets to me.

Reminder: If all the BYC attendies could meet at 11am for a group shot with the banner that would be great.

I'll be at the BYC table at 11, unless they're judging the Silkies then

Matt~~thanks so much for all that you do

I will be there. I am not sure if it will be warm enough for me to just wear my West Knoll T-shirt over a thermal shirt or not but I plan on trying that. I hate wearing a coat as much as Matt hates wearing long pants!

I know several people have told me they are coming and others that have come and bought chickens from me this past week and yesterday have gotten directions from me so they can come too.

I just won't make it there until chicken chores are done but have to come pick up chickens people are bringing me. I hope I don't see something I want to buy!

I've got a newbie question. Would this be a good place to sell a couple of roos or would they just sit at the end of the line with 868 other unwanted roos? I've got 2 extra white rocks that need a good home. Also, will people be selling eggs there? I just got a big honking incubator and I need to fill it up.

We've been really excited about this show for weeks. We just found out today that due to snow days my first grader will have school on Saturday.

So already I'm teaching the kid how to play hooky, lol. (I guess she'll be coming down with a case of chicken pox. Or maybe eggzema

) She's eggcited to come and look at all the chickens and I'm SURE we'll be coming home with a couple of silkies. She wanted to bring her favorite silver sebright just because she can, lol.

I will be bringing some hatching eggs to sell. I have had a few requests for some so I will bring all that I have gathered from Thursday to Sat. morning before I leave. Whatever I don't sell there will come back home to sell or put in the 'bator here.

I am not sure what breeds I will have available to sell but every egg is marked and will be in cartons. I can by the individual egg or in six pks, 12 pks or 18 count of mix and match.

Check out my website to see if anything is of interest.

The show hall opens at 6am for exhibitors to start cooping in their birds. State testers will be there from 6am-9am.

All birds must be cooped in by 9am when Judging begins. Judging will take place all day. As a section is being judged it will be roped off. Please enjoy the rest of the birds till the judges move to another section. Interference with Judges will not be tolerated.

The Raffle should end at 12:30pm and the Silent Auction at 1:00pm.

Carol H is doing the concessions this year and I have not asked her about a menu. There should be hotdogs. Also a member of FPC(hosting club) is donating a huge pot of chili he is making using beef from his farm. Other then that I have no clue.

**Everyone from BYC is going to meet at the BYC banner at 11am for a group shot.**

The show should start winding down after 1pm with final judging around 2pm.

To sell you need to either have a Green Card(lincense to sell poultry) or be in the process of getting it. If you go back to post #84 that is on page 9 of this thread you can get all the details. It is too late to get it this week, but if you send the application off this week then that would probably be sufficient.

We set up MORE cages and hung the coop tags today. The numbers are impressive.

Total birds in show = 936 - That beats the Fall show that was the largest in 10 years.

*break down*
Open Show(adults) = 791
Junior Show = 145

Bantams = 868 --- 409 of which are Old English
Standards = 67

OH and for the silkie nuts, ya'll should be thrilled. There are 75 Silkies registered in total.
