Freak accident/suffocation

Just wanted to tell how my first chicken died yesterday and alert people to be extra cautious in every aspect of their yard to keep their birds safe. I've had this big empty planter sitting on my porch the past few days and yesterday one of my hens must have jumped up onto the edge of it and it rolled over off the porch trapping her inside in the heat. I noticed it upside down last night, but didn't think to look under there and I found her today. She suffocated to death. It wouldn't have taken long, but I wish I had taken a count last night and maybe I would have found her alive. Just make sure you chicken-proof your yards.

Sorry for your loss. I'm sure that this was very sad to find her dead. Stories like these help us all to be more cautious. There have been other stories of buckets being turned over onto their chickens as well.
