Freaking out about horizontal nipples

The lid is just placed on top of the bucket, not closed shut. When I push the nipple water comes out so that's not it. But good to know for future reference!

Here's a video. What do you guys think? I'm just worried because the water level has been almost the same for 2 days.

Yes I agree with the previous, you need air intake in the container for the water to flow. You should be able to touch the nipple lightly and see water come out easily.
Here's a video I made of 2 of my youngsters using vertical nipples. You can see the water coming out and how easily it flows, horizontal should be the same.

I use two of those in my Coronation Sussex Coop. I like nipple systems, cleaning out poopy water is never pleasant, and feeding poopy water to chickens, means you are eating for what they ate, not a pleasant thought, or passing onto a hatching egg. Not a pleasant thought.

Cute..
See how they are kinda lifting their head up a little after they touch the nipple...that means they are getting water!! woot! woot!

The could have been spilling the others or  (don't shoot the messenger) rats could have been coming in and drinking all the water at night.

Rich...you may want to re think the leaving the top just on there.
Those birds are soon going to figure out how to jump up there and sit on the top.
They can easily knock the top off and fall in and get stuck and drown.
( again..don't shoot me)

Yeah, I'm waiting on the screw on lids. They didn't have them in stock so as soon as they get here I'll close it shut and drill a few holes up top.

Thanks everyone!

Do you feel better now?
Did you get enough answers?
:thumbsup
