I scored a totally "free" parrot sized cage a week ago -- it was sitting out for the trash man in my neighborhood on trash day, so I did a quick U-turn and snatched it up. It is virtually brand new, had just a little bit of feather debris on the bottom and still had the price tag $99 from Meijer.
So, I sterilized it and filled it up with these guys:
They are Australian Diamond Doves
Cage, free
Bleach to Sterilize, $0.50
Birds and supplies, $100
Happiness, Priceless
These two boys are brothers hatched together and have always been together per the pet shop. I really wanted a mated pair, but I couldn't find any females locally. Down the road I will probably try to find these boys a couple of mates. Since Diamond Doves are social, they should be able to live together as the cage is large enough. If not, I can always get another cage.
