Free chick feed- Indianapolis

Thanks for the advice, but I'm still interested in getting rid of it. For my three chickens, this quantity would last more than a month. My earliest layer started two weeks ago and the last one started laying today with a shell-less egg. I know that can happen to any new layer, but it still points towards getting them onto the layer feed.

It just shows that you don't really understand how they process calcium. They use calcium stored in their bones to produce shells. As they are new to laying, they haven't had enough time to deplete the calcium stored in their bones, and thus, don't really need extra calcium at this point in time. The shell-less egg means that they still need a bit more time to mature and develop. The higher protein starter will help with that more than the extra calcium in layer feed will.

We still have some chicks that could use. We are in Shelbyville, so nearby. Not sure I know how to private message you though.
