She is very beautiful. I love her color! That would be cool if that is what my gray chick is.. roo or hen, doesn't really matter.

Don't keep dirt flooring, cover it with bricks, blocks, or concrete. Don't use fencing any bigger than 1/2" hardware cloth. Even chicken wire can let in snakes or allow racoon arms to reach in and brake chickens' legs. There are minor "shortcuts" I have, but it's on money saving, not safety, like use grass hay instead of wood shavings for bedding. It's not only cheaper $6.50/bale (my coop only needs one) vs $5.00/bag of shavings (my coop needs three). That kind of stuff.Well what do u recommend that u learned? I'm so afraid of predators getting them ..I love them so much

I'm super paranoid about predators so my fiancé bought a shed and attached a run. We lock them in at night. We have 2 raccoons that I think live under my house ( we have an 1880s shotgun cracker house) and they haven't even tried. I am getting predator eyes today tho see if I can discourage anything further. I'm so sorry for ur loss I would be devistated. I have named almost all 78 of them.
wendy!!!! My next door neighbor (who's chickens are right next to ours because our back yards on that side of the lot are up against each other) caught a fox in with her chickens this morning!!! I was hoping we didn't have any more foxes around, but we do. They let their chickens out pretty early. Right after 7am, she was sitting on her porch and saw something red in the semi open chicken run. She then saw a tail and took off running towards it. He had four of her chickens cornered, but she scared him off. The fox went over her fence and ran into our yard. All of our chickens are out there where the fox was. Thank goodness they were still locked up. She came in our yard and walked our fence line and checked on our chicks and hens and everything was fine. I'm so paranoid now!! I know they're ok, but I'm still paranoid!! YIKES!!
